Fall Festival Brings The Farm Experience To Carlstadt

CARLSTADT, N.J. — The annual Fall Festival returned to Carlstadt Public School bringing livestock, pumpkins and games.

“I think the kids are very excited and it’s a good way to celebrate the season,” said kindergarten teacher Jennifer Caprio. “A lot of kids don’t get to go to a farm so we bring the farm to them.”

The festival was started around 2002, after Sept. 11, 2001, when parents were afraid to send their kids on school trips. In response teachers got together at the former Lincoln School to bring the fall festivities to the students.

“The kids really love it,” said Therese Kearns, a pre-K teacher who helped start the festival. “We bring a farm-like atmosphere to the school.”

The festival offers a petting zoo, pony rides, temporary tattoos, pumpkin related games and pumpkin picking provided by the Parent Teacher Association.
